Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service’s comms team covers all corners, from campaigns to creative to digital. As a relatively new team, they were looking to develop a shared sense of purpose and a more strategic approach to their comms, as well as unleashing some of their creativity.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service’s comms team wanted to bring their new comms strategy to life and ensure their organisation’s objectives were front and centre in their work.
They wanted to generate new ideas and different ways of tackling their challenges, nurturing an environment in which creativity could thrive.
They also wanted to build on their key comms strengths, such as storytelling, behaviour change and audience insight. The team wanted to deliver with impact, efficiency, and overall, creativity.
Alive ran a full-day workshop with the team, face-to-face at the service’s training centre.
The day was broken up into four key areas:
The day was a mixture of theory, group discussions and exercises to put ideas into practice.
A few kind words from the team about their workshop experience …
“Alive brought to life the theory around planning effective communications alongside generating ideas in an enjoyable and practical way, leaving us feeling revitalised and inspired.”
Steph Collinson, Head of Communications and Engagement
“My favourite task of the day was picking a prop from the random bag – a tin of beans – and applying it to a work advertisement situation. It was an eye-opening task to remind us that inspiration is all around. It was a really great day. The tasks were so much fun, thank you Alive!”
Lucinda Heavyside, Communications Apprentice
“The workshop helped me to understand more about what an audience would want from a comms campaign and the importance of a creative mindset. Alive’s knowledge around creativity was excellent – it really brought out our team’s strengths and showed that we can come up with some brilliant ideas when we get together.”
Darcy Williams, Internal Communications Officer
