Meet Rebecca! Let’s dive into her journey – her career path, her passions, and the joys (and chaos!) of life with twin toddlers!
What did you do before joining Alive?
Before Alive, I worked at various design agencies. The last agency I worked at focused on brand design, so I’ve spent the largest part of my career creating brands or taking on brand evolutions.
When did you first decide you wanted to be a designer?
After my A-levels I had no idea what I wanted to do, I just knew I had to have a creative job because of my love for art. This inspired me to do a foundation year in Art and Design. While working on a project, I discovered Stefan Sagmeister and his stunning typography. My love for design grew from there. Typography is still one aspect of design I remain the most passionate about!
How did you get into design in the first place?
Honestly, I stalked an agency and applied for a job I wasn’t qualified for. It paid off!
What do you most enjoy about your job?
You just never know what you’re waking up to. The job is different every day and I love it. I’ll never get bored of picking up a brief and bringing it alive with ideas. Lastly, I love the culture we have here at Alive, I’ve never worked at a more supportive company before.
Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?
I love adventures and do all sorts of weird and wonderful things on the weekends. But mostly, you’ll find me running around a park chasing my two-year-old twins to wear them out! But, if it’s raining, I’ll be hiding away with a good fantasy book.
Finally, something we’d never guess about you?
I very nearly joined the Navy after university instead of pursuing my design career. I applied, went through the entry tests and got offered a place! But ultimately, I decided design was actually my passion, not running around pretending I was the next G.I Josephine.
