She has creativity coursing through her veins and loves trying out new techniques. Meet our designer Amy.
What did you do before joining Alive?
I have worked mostly agency side and after dipping my toe into the corporate world I knew exactly where my strengths were best suited and headed back to agency life.
When did you first decide you wanted to be a designer?
There was no defining moment, I just always knew I would end up doing something creative. It wasn’t until I started my art foundation course at college and was looking at Uni’s that I really considered graphic design as a career. It’s not something that happened straight away either, I was a wedding and event coordinator for quite a few years. But was always drawn back to creative work so searched out my first agency design job and I’ve never looked back.
How did you get into design in the first place?
Two of my sisters are very creative, so it stemmed from them always doing creative things with me from a super early age.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
Every day is something different, having worked in-house I came to realise that the variety of work was super important to me. Also having the ability to learn and push myself with new styles or types of projects keeps me motivated and interested!
I would also say I enjoy the people; I’ve never worked anywhere before where I can truly be myself and that’s all down to the team I work with, and that’s pretty awesome.
Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?
Probably at home. My husband and I love cooking, so at the weekend we normally spend it cooking something new together. In the summer it’s all about having BBQ’s with our friends and family and eating good food.
Finally, something we’d never guess about you?
I play the guitar and piano and used to sing a bit. I actually auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent many many years ago with my friend. We never made it through to perform for the judges (cos we were pretty cr*p) but I do have a BGT audition sticker!
