If you never try you’ll never know, just what you’re worth – Coldplay
To achieve true fulfilment at work, we need positive relationships with our colleagues, the chance to collaborate and contribute our ideas, a feel-good atmosphere, regular opportunities to learn and develop, a simple thank you from our bosses…
But one topic we rarely speak about in the wonderful world of internal comms, which is also an intrinsically important part of job satisfaction, is our salaries.
We’re passing the mic over to our friends at Staffbase to tell you all about the IC Salary Study 2022 and how, by completing their anonymous survey, you will help produce a global industry report that supports fellow internal comms people to negotiate higher salaries and increase their team sizes and budget, while charting their career path….

Raise your hand if you like getting paid what you’re worth.
How about having the tools you need to do your job, and do it well?
And what about having a team size big enough that you can actually get everything done?
The truth is that a lot of IC pros don’t get paid what they’re worth. They don’t have the tools they need to do their jobs. And they don’t have team sizes they need to make a real impact.
But together, we can change this.
As advocates for internal communicators and their important work, Staffbase believes salary transparency has the power to help all IC professionals.
That’s why we’re excited to announce the launch of Staffbase’s Internal Communications Salary Survey 2022.
Contributing to this can help IC pros advocate for bigger teams, negotiate higher salaries, and influence their career trajectories.
And Staffbase has the proof — not only did over 700 IC pros participate in the study last year but Staffbase even won a Gold Quill Award of Merit from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) for the report.
It was the impact on the IC community that Staffbase is most proud of. Many communicators reached out to Kyla Sims, Principal Audience Engagement Manager at Staffbase, to testify how useful the 2021 Internal Communications Salary Report was:
“We were really proud of winning a Gold Quill Award, but it really pales in comparison to the wins we were able to get for IC pros in our community.
I had communicators reach out to me personally to thank us for last year’s report and let me know that they used it in their own salary negotiations…and it worked! Some folks were even able to make the case for expanding their teams and getting new tools by pointing to the data in our report.”
If you haven’t taken the survey yet – you can do so here: Take the survey.
Once you’ve completed the survey, please help us spread the word to get an even better data set by sharing on Twitter and Linkedin, and sharing the study with your colleagues.
Together, we can help IC pros around the world get paid what they’re worth and elevate internal communications in every organisation.
