It’s time to free up some space in your home and your head, one small change at a time…
Reducing stress can be a long and challenging journey but decluttering your environment could be a good place to start. Boost productivity, creativity and concentration by donating, deleting, ditching, or recycling what you don’t need.
Here’s our A-Z list to get you going…
Declutter this summer / A-Z of things you won’t miss
During the pandemic we made do with our makeshift WFH setups – laptops on kitchen tables, notes on scraps of paper, pyjama bottoms…
Now that many of us are accustomed to home being a permanent or part-time place of work, this summer could be the time to declutter.
Having a shipshape space to live and work in will help you to destress, get organised and focus on what’s most important.
Here’s our A-Z list of things to donate, delete, ditch, or recycle that you will not miss.
Apps. If you haven’t opened it this month, you probably don’t need it.
Books you’ve already read. Why not pass them on to a colleague.
Chargers. Do you really need the chargers for your old phones and laptops?
Doubts. Trust your gut, make the bold move – it’ll payoff.
Expectations others put on you. Listen to Taylor Swift and shake it off!
Fake friends. Try to limit the time you spend with people who don’t bring you joy.
Games. The ones you never play, or that have missing pieces.
Holey socks. They may be your favourites, but no one wants to see that toe poking out!
Inbox. Delete old emails and tidy up your folders, you’ll feel better for it.
Jealousy. The grass isn’t always greener. Look inwards to reflect on what you’re grateful for.
Kids toys. Just keep the ones that have sentimental value, pass on the rest.
Letters. Shred, recycle, rejoice!
Mugs. You clearly have a favourite, why fight it?
Negativity. Try to face your next challenge with a new, positive perspective.
Old gadgets. Ask yourself – why do I still have this? What even is it?
Pens that don’t work. That’s ‘write’, it’s time.
Quarrels with friends or family. Be the bigger person and let it go.
Random Facebook friends. Bye bye stalker!
Stationary that has had its time. Argos pencils, full notepads, that kind of thing.
Takeaway tubs. If they’re piling up, recycle the ones you don’t need.
Unused gifts. Candles, bath bombs or books could all put a smile on someone else’s face.
Vampires. The people who drain you of your energy and optimism.
Waking up in the dark. Make the most of the early morning sunshine and stock up on vitamin D with a daily stroll.
X’s. Remove them from social media – you’ll only find out things you don’t want to know!
Yesterday. It’s done. Time to move onwards and upwards.
Zoom. Make a pledge to try and meet colleagues face to face and reconnect.
If something on our A-Z list doesn’t relate to you, simply swap it for something that does!
Whether you’re decluttering your mind, your home office, or both, one achievable change at a time will help free up space for you to reset, grow and let the small things go.
