What’s YESvember all about?
Recent times have been more than a little testing for so many of us. It’s been exhausting and even heart breaking for many. We’ve not only had to adapt our lives and working practices but also our perspectives and find new ways to stay buoyant in this sea of uncertainty.
Why now?
Add to that, this time of year can be particularly hard for many different reasons. It’s no coincidence that National Stress Day falls in November, with its timely reminder for us all to take care of our wellbeing. Or Movember, the global community of fired up ‘Mo Bros and Mo Sisters’ making a difference in mental health and suicide prevention. Which is why #Yesvember was created for Autumn 2020 – to help support our wellbeing.
There’s so much more to talk about
When the idea of #Yesvember was sown it came from a drive to support our own team and we hoped that our wonderful community would benefit from what we were learning and sharing. But what we came to learn from last year was there was so much that we hadn’t touched upon that we wanted to explore in 2021. Cue our 30 days of saying YES to preparing for the final push through to the festive period, to finding ways to take care of each other and to offering a much-needed lift to our own mental health, wellbeing and creativity.
Supporting each other through the challenging times
Our team have had to adapt and adjust, and at times we’ve all had our own challenges to overcome. Life has thrown some unsettling curve balls. Sometimes we’ve lost our way, sometimes we’ve reached out at just the right time. We’ve shared with each other some difficult, personal stories over the last few years. Through sharing our experiences we’ve built a culture of acceptance, strength and unity. We know that every day’s a school day. In creating #Yesvember we too will be learning; whether that’s a new habit, a useful tip or a creative nudge, or seeing something through someone else’s eyes, all can be added to our personal wellbeing toolkit.
One final thought
30 days of positive thoughts in your social feed may well come at just the right time for you. We realise though that this might not work for everyone and such mood boosting messages aren’t right for you just now. We get it. We’ve all been there. Particularly when we’re all managing so much that others may know little about. So, we ask you to skip past our social feeds for the next 30 days and stay safe and well. We hope when the time’s right you may be able to dip in and perhaps one of our themes will resonate with you in some way.
Take care,
Team Alive
